Boukari is noted for its fish tavernas and is built around its tiny harbour where local fishermen congregate each day sell their catch.
This quiet village is on the East coast of the island and has a pebble beach and clean, calm water. The accommodation is limited; mostly to studios and rooms and a reasonable sized hotel. Mini markets and tavernas are all within walking distance. Car hire is recommended as there is much to explore in the local area and beyond.
The natural curve of the island means the views of Messonghi, Moraitika and Corfu Town are magnificent and although it is on the East the sunsets are stunning. This is the perfect location for a relaxing holiday and experiencing Corfiot Life!
An old traditional Greek village up on the side of a steep hill about 4km. from Messonghi. The views are spectacular of Southern Corfu and the islands of Paxos and Antipaxos can be seen on a clear day.
Moraitika village is a modern tourist resort that lies around a natural bay and is situated about 1km of the Messonghi resort.
Next to Halikounas Beach is Lake Korission. A long strip of golden sand separates the lake from the sea. Korission lake is 10 km from Messonghi on the south west coast.
Gardiki Castle is a 13th-century Byzantine castle on the southwestern coast of Corfu and the only surviving ancient fortress on the southern part of the island. It was built by a ruler of the Despotate of Epirus, and was one of three castles which defended the island before the Venetian era (1401–1797).
